Team Sky looking for strong start

The line-ups for February have now been unveiled, with Edvald Boasson Hagen, Juan Antonio Flecha and Bradley Wiggins all set to make their first appearances of the season. Wiggins will lead the team into the Tour of Qatar between 6-11 February and will be joined in the eight-man squad by debutants Alex Dowsett and Jeremy Hunt. Servais Knaven will also be making his introduction as a sports director in that race alongside Steven de Jongh. Davide Appollonio and Xabier Zandio have both been included in the squad for the Tour of the Mediterranean, running from 9-13 February, with new DS Nicolas Portal taking the reins in the team car there alongside Sean Yates. Boasson Hagen will be looking to hit the ground running at the Tour of Oman between 15-20 February, and Rigoberto Urán makes his bow at the Vuelta a Andalucia between 20-24 February. Flecha will be doing everything he can try and defend his Omloop Het Nieuwsblad title on 26 February, and just 24 hours later Ian Stannard will return to Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, where he produced one of the performances of the season last year to finish third in absolutely atrocious conditions. Don't forget, Team Sky's season kicks off properly the Tour Down Under on 18 January, two days after the Council Cancer Classic, with Simon Gerrans, Mathew Hayman, Greg Henderson, Michael Rogers, Chris Sutton, Ben Swift and Geraint Thomas representing the team there.
