Roman Kreuziger will not ride in the Vuelta a Espana after the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected an appeal against his provisional suspension.
The Team Tinkoff-Saxo rider has been forced onto the sidelines pending the outcome of an investigation into his biological passport values.
He sat out the Tour de France but attempted to return to racing at the Tour of Poland, at which point the provisional suspension was handed down by the International Cycling Union (UCI).
Kreuziger appealed to the CAS in a bid to be allowed to race in the final Grand Tour of the year, but a three-member panel of arbitrators upheld the UCI’s ban.
"Roman Kreuziger remains provisionally suspended pending a decision on his alleged anti-doping rule violation," the CAS said.
The Czech rider is facing disciplinary proceedings for the alleged anomalies in his passport.
The blood values in question relate to the period between March and August 2011 and from April 2012 until the end of that year’s Giro d’Italia. He was rode for Astana in both years.
