Tour of Austria: Peter Kennaugh extends lead after finishing 19th in stage seven time trial

Peter Kennaugh will take a 1min 3sec lead into the final stage of the Tour of Austria after tightening his grip on the yellow jersey on stage seven's individual time trial.

The Team Sky rider went into the day with a 1min 2sec gap over Javier Moreno in the general classification and narrowly extended that by beating the Spaniard by one second on a flat 24.1km course.

His 19th-fastest time of 29min 13sec was 1min 23sec slower than Kristof Vandewalle (Trek Factory Racing), who claimed stage victory after bettering second-placed team-mate Jesse Sergent by 12 seconds and third-placed Manuel Quinziato (BMC Racing) by 15 seconds.

Kennaugh now only has to avoid crashing on Sunday's flat 122.8km final stage from Podersdorf to Vienna to secure overall victory.
