Marianne Vos secured the Women's Tour crown with another show of domination on the fifth and final stage on Sunday.

In a thrilling finish in testing conditions, the world and Olympic champion sprinted to glory after a testing 68 miles between Harwich and Bury St Edmunds.

It was the Dutch rider's third successive stage victory in the event to crown a stunning performance in the inaugural Women's Tour to triumph overall by 30 seconds..

Vos began the day with an overall 19-second lead over her closest challenger, stage one winner Emma Johansson, and so it was always going to be a tall order for her rivals with only 16 seconds available in the two intermediate sprints and the finish.

Italian Giorgia Bronzini was second on Sunday ahead of Amy Pieters of the Netherlands, while Sweden's Johansson (Orica-GreenEdge) was fifth to seal second overall ahead of Italian Rossella Ratto.

Lizzie Armitstead was unable to start the final stage due to illness, but British team-mate and two-time world junior champion Lucy Garner secured seventh spot ahead of Hannah Barnes.

Double Olympic track champion Laura Trott (Wiggle-Honda) was 55th overall after a heavy crash on Friday and Saturday's stage which began in her hometown of Cheshunt, while her sister Emma (Boels-Dolmans) was 60th overall before retiring after crossing the finish line in Suffolk.
