The three remaining wildcard places for May's Giro d'Italia have been awarded to Bardiani-CSF Inox, Neri-Yellowfluo and Team Colombia, organisers RCS Sport revealed today.
The trio will join the 18 UCI WorldTour teams and Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, who had already earned an invite as a result of winning the Coppa Italia team competition last season.
MTN-Qhubeka, IAM Cycling, Caja Rural, UnitedHealthcare and Wanty Group-Gobert were the teams who missed out.
RCS's decision to give a wildcard to Neri-Yellowfluo is a surprise given that the team - then known as Vini Fantini-Selle Italia - had two riders fail drugs tests at last year's Giro.
MTN-Qhubeka might be surprised to be overlooked after the African squad won Milan-San Remo - another RCS race - last year through Gerald Ciolek.
RCS also announced that wildcard invites for this year's Milan-San Remo have been given to Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, Bardiani-CSF Inox, IAM Cycling, MTN-Qhubeka, NetApp-Endura, UnitedHealthcare and Neri-Yellowfluo.
March 12-18 sees Tirreno-Adriatico take place with Bardiani CSF, MTN-Qhubeka, IAM Cycling and NetApp-Endura all receiving invites.
Caja Rural are added to the picture for Il Lombardia, running on October 5, with Androni Giocattoli, Bardiana CSF, Colombia, IAM Cycling, NetApp-Endura and Yello Fluo filling out the wildcard roster.
The Giro takes place from May 9 to June 1, while Milan-San Remo will be held on March 23.
