Laura Trott: Second gold of the week in Manchester
Olympic champions Laura Trott and Jason Kenny roared to gold medals at the British Cycling National Track Championships in Manchester.
Trott had already won gold in the women's individual pursuit on Thursday and she followed it up 24 hours later with victory in the points race, beating Dani King and Elinor Barker.
"It was really hard, it was a tough race; it's not like a pursuit; that's predictable but in the points people use different tactics so you never know what's going to happen," Trott said.
Kenny, a three-time Olympic gold medallist, held off the challenge of Matthew Crampton in the men's keirin, with Lewis Oliva coming third.
"It was nitty gritty on Matt's (Crampton) wheel in third place. I was just happy to hold station knowing Matt was one of the race favourites," said Kenny.
Jess Varnish claimed her second title of the week, following up her victory in the women's 500 metres time trial on Wednesday with success in the sprint championships.
Sam Harrison walked away with the gold medal in the men's scratch, beating Olympic champion Ed Clancy into second with Steven Burke collecting the bronze, while Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott (pilot) took the gold medals in the para-cycling pursuit.
