Sky Sports is delighted to announce that Olympic women's road race silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead is joining our editorial team as a blogger.

The 24-year-old Yorkshire rider established herself as a household name at London 2012 by winning Britain's first medal of the Games in front of thousands of fans on The Mall.

She is one of the most prominent and successful female cyclists of her generation and is an ambassador for the sport in the UK.

Lizzie will be blogging about women's cycling, grassroots cycling, the rigours of being a professional, life both on and off the bike, plus anything else topical or that she wants to get off her chest.

Her first blog will be published on Friday, June 21, and will focus on her bid to regain the British road race title at this weekend's National Championships in Glasgow.
