Tao Geoghegan Hart, the 18-year-old Briton who finished third in Sunday's Junior Paris-Roubaix, has described riding into Roubaix's famous velodrome with a chance of winning as a "very special" experience.
The result was the best of Hart's road career so far, bolstering his profile in the sport and underlining his status as a rising British star of the future.
However, he is adamant it will not alter his ambitions or the way he views himself as a rider.
"I don't know if a result like this changes my perceptions of my own potential as such," he explained. "My dreams are still pretty much the same: to make it to the pro ranks and keep moving up in the cycling structure.
"For short-term confidence Roubaix was good and for long-term confidence it reminds you that your hard work was going in the right direction.
"My peers might say I am more of a climber and more for hillier races, but that makes it all the more sweeter to get a result yesterday in a flat race because it shows you can be a versatile rider, which is a nice thing to be able to say."
Hart was joined in the top 10 by team-mate Oliver Wood, who finished sixth, with fellow Britons Scott Davies following in 19th and Jake Ragan in 26th.
