Lars Boom moved into overall leadership of the Tour of the Mediterranean after winning stage two's time trial from Cap d'Agde to Mont Saint Claire.
The Blanco rider negotiated the 24km route in 32 minutes 25 seconds, beating Maxime Monfort (RadioShack-Leopard) by 22 seconds and third-placed Anthony Roux (FDJ) by 36 seconds.
However, there will be no racing on Friday, after stage three was cancelled by local authorities due to "unsatisfactory security conditions".
That will leave Boom in the leader's jersey for at least one more day after a dominant performance on the short and steep climb to Mont Saint Claire.
Stage one winner Andre Greipel relinquished his overnight lead after stopping the clock 2min 58secs down on Boom.
