Mark Cavendish will make his first appearance for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step at the Tour of Qatar in February after opting out of the season-opening Tour Down Under.

The Manxman, who won two stages of this year's race, will be joined on his new team's start list by defending champion Tom Boonen.

Cavendish will officially join Quick-Step on January 1 after cancelling his contract with Team Sky and signing a three-year deal with the Belgian outfit.

He has won four stages in Qatar in total, having also picked up two victories in 2009.

Boonen heads east in search of a fifth overall title in the Gulf state. He previously won the race in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012, claiming 19 stage victories along the way.

The 2013 event takes place between February 3-8.

Meanwhile, Quick-Step have today unveiled their new jerseys for the upcoming season, featuring for the first time the riders' Twitter handles on their respective shirts.
