Michele Scarponi: Will return in time for start of the season
Michele Scarponi has been given a three-month ban and a €10,000 fine after admitting to working with disgraced doctor Michele Ferrari.
However, the 33-year-old will not miss any races after the ban was backdated to October 1, meaning it expires on December 31, before the 2013 season starts.
The Italian revealed in October that he underwent performance testing with Ferrari in February 2010, and was later suspended by his Lampre-ISD team.
Scarponi said: "I was hoping it [the ban] would be something less or nothing."
Ferrari played an integral role in the doping programme run by Lance Armstrong and the US Postal Service team between 1999 and 2005, and was banned from working in professional sport in July.
Scarponi was previously banned for 18 months in 2007 for his involvement in Operation Puerto.
