Jason Kenny eases through keirin heat to progress at Glasgow World Cup

Three-time Olympic champion Jason Kenny successfully advanced at the first time of asking in the men's keirin at the Track World Cup in Glasgow.

Progress into the evening semifinals followed shortly after as the British pair headed through in straight heats. Andy Tennant, recovered from the crash which ended Britain's team pursuit hopes on day one, was fifth in individual pursuit qualifying in 4mins 28.806secs. Denmark's Lasse Hansen advanced fastest in 4:22.373 to set up a final meeting with Martyn Irvine of Ireland, who finished in 4:24.243. James met Tania Calvo of Spain in the quarter-finals and claimed a comfortable 2-0 win. Varnish was up against Olivia Montauban of France and followed James through to the semi-finals. Having qualified in second and third, the British pair were set to face each other in the last four. Trott was ninth in the points race for the omnium after being heavily marked throughout to sit sixth after two of the six events. Jon Dibben won the fourth event of the men's omnium, the 4km individual pursuit. Dibben clocked 4:26.982 to move up to sixth overall with two events to go this evening.
