Lance Armstrong's Astana team-mate Levi Leipheimer has been forced to withdraw from the Tour de France with a broken wrist.
The 35-year-old suffered the injury after falling just 2km from the finish line on stage 12.
The Californian eventually crossed the line at the back of the peloton, managing to retain fourth spot overnight.
But he was left with bruising on the right side of his back and road rashes on his right shoulder, lower back and hip.
After undergoing an x-ray at the hospital it was confirmed Leipheimer had also broken his wrist.
Astana's Philippe Maertens said: "He was fine last night but in a lot of pain this morning."
