Sir Bradley Wiggins will return to action at the Belgian cobbled classic Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday after being named in Team Sky’s eight-man squad.

Wiggins is building up to Paris-Roubaix on April 12 but unexpectedly missed E3 Harelbeke on Friday, which was won by his Team Sky team-mate Geraint Thomas.

Gent-Wevelgem covers 239.1km and although there are nine climbs on the route, a flat run-in offers the prospect of a sprint finish. John Degenkolb was last year's winner.

Wiggins will be joined on the start line by fellow Briton Mark Cavendish, who has been named in Etixx - Quick-Step's line-up.
