Dani King is back training on the road just over six weeks after suffering eight broken ribs and a punctured lung in a freak crash.

The Olympic track champion had to spend two nights in intensive care and 12 days in hospital after being involved in a pile-up of cyclists during a training ride in Wales on November 6.

King was back riding an exercise bike indoors within four weeks of the accident and tweeted on Saturday that she had just made her comeback to riding on the road.

Along with two photographs, the 24-year-old posted: “One of the happiest days on my bike. And yes … This way today! First day back on the road.”

King will race solely on the road in 2015 as she looks to prove her credentials for selection for the team pursuit at the 2016 Olympic Games away from the track.
