- Test debut v South Africa at Bangalore - March 2000.
- ODI debut v England at Kanpur - January 2002.
- Mohammed Kaif was first noticed in India when he successfully captained Under-19 team, which included Yuvraj Singh, Ajay Ratra and Reetinder Sodhi, at the Youth World Cup of 2000.
- This lead him to recieve his first Test cap at the tender age of 20 against South Africa in 2000.
- It wasn't until the 2002 NatWest ODI series in England that he truly made an impact on the international stage when scored a magnificent unbeaten 87 as India successfully chased 326 for victory in the final.
- Scored his maiden ODI ton against Zimbabwe in 2002, but had to wait another three years before getting three figures against New Zealand.
- His first Test century came in 2005 during a high-scoring draw against the West Indies in St. Lucia.
- Kaif has the ability to bowl offspin and is also an exceptional cover fielder.
