- Test debut v England at Nottingham - August 2005
- Right arm fast bowler who made his debut for South Australia in the 2002-03 season aged 19-years-old.
- Named Young Cricketer of the Year at the Allan Border medal ceremony in 2003-04
- In 2004 he was called up to the Australian national side for the tour of Sri Lanka although he did not play a game.
- Signed for Durham in August 2004 but suffered a torrid time including a nightmare debut, sending down 21 no balls and collecting none for 113.
- After returning to Australia he took 65 first-class wickets for his state side to break Clarrie Grimmett's 1939-40 record for a South Australian bowler.
- Called up to the Australian squad for the 2005 Ashes tour of England, and made his Test debut in the fourth Test of that series, after an injury to Glenn McGrath.
- Played a big role in Australia's World Cup win in 2007.
- His slingy action has led to regular injury breaks and he also took time out of the game in 2008 due to physical and emotional exhaustion.
- Has since decided to focus on the shorter forms of the game, and his ability to produce short bursts of extreme speed has made him ideally suited for Twenty20.
- After an impressive return to the international scene during Australia's tour to England in 2010, it was suggested that Tait make a return to Test cricket, but the bowler remained steadfast in his assertion that he would only play limited overs cricket.
