Boyd Rankin bowled himself into England's Ashes plans with his performances in the one-day series against Australia at the tail-end of the summer.
With James Anderson and Stuart Broad rested - and Tim Bresnan injured - Rankin got the chance to take the new ball and led the attack impressively.
Born in Londonderry, Rankin switched allegiance to England after playing 37 ODIs for Ireland, including at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups.
Standing at around 6ft 8", Rankin can crank his pace above 90mph and is capable of generating bounce from even the most lifeless surface.
Since joining Warwickshire for the 2008 summer as a stepping stone for his Test ambitions, Rankin's biggest problem has been frequent injury absences.
But he has worked hard to strengthen his body and England have always kept an eye on his progress; he has been involved with the second-string Lions for the past two years.
Rankin made his England debut in the T20 international against New Zealand in June and then stepped up to the ODI squad, taking 4-46 in the win over his former Ireland team-mates in Dublin in September.
