England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler is a doubt for Saturday's deciding ODI against New Zealand after splitting the webbing on his left hand in fielding drills at Emirates Durham ICG.

Yorkshire's Jonathan Bairstow has been added to the squad as cover.

Buttler was forced to leave the practice session to see to the wound, but England will not make a decision on his participation in the fifth and final match against the Black Caps until Saturday morning.

The 24-year-old has been an integral part of England's 50-over transformation since the World Cup.

Eoin Morgan's side have posted four successive scores over 300 for the first time in their history, with Buttler hitting his country's fastest-ever century in their record 408-9 in the opening match at Edgbaston.

England have a contingency plan if Buttler is unable to play, with Sam Billings - who has been batting at seven during the series - a full-fledged wicketkeeper with Kent.
