England new boy staying at Trent Bridge for next three years

PCA young player of the year Alex Hales has signed a contract extension with Nottinghamshire, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2014 season. The England new boy made more than 1,000 LV= County Championship runs for the first time this summer, while his limited-over form led to an international debut. The 22-year-old batsman pulled on an England shirt for the first time in last month's Twenty20 International against India at Old Trafford and is in the England squad to take on the West Indies in two more T20 matches at the Oval this weekend. Hales told the club's offical website: "Last season was good for me personally but the collective aim at Nottinghamshire is to push for honours in all three competitions. "Signing Michael Lumb is a major boost for us and there are a lot of players within the squad who can have a big influence next season. "I really enjoy the atmosphere in the dressing room and Trent Bridge is a great place to play cricket."
