Misbah-ul-Haq: Proud of players after crushing win in Chittagong

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq showered his players with praise after they began the two-Test series with a comprehensive innings victory over Bangladesh at Chittagong.

After skittling the hosts for just 135 in their first innings, Pakistan racked up a mammoth lead thanks to Younus Khan's double century and a maiden ton for Asad Shafiq.

An innings victory looked inevitable with over two days remaining and Pakistan sealed victory after lunch on day four by bowling out Bangladesh for just 275.

The win maintains Pakistan's rich vein of form in all cricket, where they have now won nine successive matches and all five on the current tour of Bangladesh.

Support

"The confidence the team has got from the wins, over the past year and a half is helping us," said Misbah.

"Our batsmen are experienced now, they know what the demands of Test cricket are. (Abdur) Rehman is our main spinner and he is performing well since the day he came into the side.

"We are not relying only on Rehman or Ajmal, Umar Gul is bowling well, so is Cheema, Mohammad Hafeez too. Everybody is friends in the dressing room, there are no seniors or juniors, we are enjoying ourselves."

Defeated Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim acknowledged that his side's batting was well below-par, however he was pleased with the showing second time around, where Nazimuddin and Shakib Al-Hasan posted half-centuries.

"When you are 50-odd for five, it's difficult to come back. But we fought back well in the second innings. All credit to Pakistan bowlers. Nazimuddin in his first Test showed how to play these guys, Shakib also," concluded Rahim.

"Sometimes we feel sorry for the crowd. They come and support us every time, though we haven't been able to win often."
