Mohammad Hafeez struck a century and Younus Khan closed in on his as Pakistan enjoyed another day of dominance against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chittagong.

Pakistan look set for an innings victory after they reached stumps on day two on 415-4 in reply to Bangladesh's paltry 135 all out.

Hafeez made 143, his fourth Test century, while veteran right-hander Younus reached the close on 96 not out - four runs short of his 19th Test match hundred.

Resuming the second day on 132-0 in reply to the hosts' total of 135, Pakistan suffered an early setback when Taufeeq Umar was trapped lbw by Mohammad Mahmudullah for 61.

But, by the time he went, Pakistan were already well past Bangladesh's first-innings score and Hafeez looked in ominous touch.

Scares

Hafeez went to his fourth Test century before lunch, but the tourists lost their second wicket soon after the interval when Azhar Ali (26) played a loose shot off the bowling of Shahadat Hossain and his edge was snapped up by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Hafeez was eventually given out lbw playing forward to Elias Sunny (2-81) for 143 - an impressive 237-ball innings including 14 fours.

That brought captain Misbah-ul-Haq out to join Younus in the middle and both survived scares before tea.

Younus was dropped on 15 by Sunny at deep square leg off the bowling of Shahadat while Misbah was put down on five by Shahriar Nafees at second slip, Rubel Hossain the unlucky bowler.

Misbah (20) became the third and final wicket to fall on day two when he, too, was trapped lbw by Sunny, however Younus and Asad Shafiq (40no) continued to take the game away from Bangladesh in the afternoon session.

The pair had put on 103 for the fifth wicket before stumps arrived with Younus on the brink of yet another century.
