Scotland's bid to qualify for the World Twenty20 has been ended by a three-wicket defeat to the Netherlands in Dubai.
The Saltires posted 166-6 and while they took wickets at regular intervals the Dutch did just enough to reel in the target with five balls remaining.
Opener Calum MacLeod struck 57 from 42 balls to provide the thrust to Scotland's innings but after his departure, in the 16th over, the late-hitting never truly arrived.
Scotland's bowlers ensured a tight chase with off-spinner Majid Haq claiming 3-22.
And when Gordon Drummond claimed two wickets in the 18th over, including top-scorer Tom Cooper for 60, Scotland had edged ahead with 15 needed from the final two overs.
But the momentum shifted again when Scotland skipper Kyle Coetzer saw his second delivery of the penultimate over thrashed for six to allow the Netherlands breathing space to ensure their progress into Friday's elimination semi-final.
