South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock is a doubt for the World Cup after being ruled out of the rest of the series against the West Indies due to injury.

De Kock injured his left ankle while warming up before play on the third day of the first Test and a scan revealed a torn ligament.

Team doctor Mohammed Moosajee said his recovery could take between six and 12 weeks, putting the young star in a race against time to be ready for February’s World Cup.

Moosajee said: "In terms of the World Cup, our first match of the tournament is in eight weeks, which hopefully affords a sufficient recovery period.”

Meanwhile, West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach is also expected to miss the rest of the series due to an ankle injury.

The paceman suffered the knock while bowling on the first day of the first Test at Centurion and did not bat in either innings.

The West Indies have also called up Narsingh Deonarine to replace the injured Assad Fudadin in the Test squad.
