South Africa could be in line for a welcome fitness boost ahead of Friday's crucial Champions Trophy clash with West Indies after Dale Steyn came through a nets session unscathed.
The pace bowler missed the defeat against India and the win over Pakistan due to a side strain but could return to action in Cardiff.
West Indies have also won one game and lost the other in Group B, meaning the match will decide which team progresses to the semi-finals of the tournament.
"Dale is progressing quite well, he came through his net session today without any discomfort but the challenge is to watch him overnight to see if he wakes up with any stiffness," said team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee.
"If he comes through tomorrow's net practice he should be available for selection."
