Jesse Ryder is to end his self-imposed exile from the New Zealand team after being called up for the limited-overs matches against the West Indies.
The big-hitting 29-year-old had made himself unavailable for international selection to sort out personal issues.
However Ryder, who averages 34.27 in 33 ODI innings, has been named in the 13-man squad to face the West Indies in five one-day internationals, starting in Auckland on December 26.
"I set the goal to make it back earlier this year and it is a great end to a tough year for me. I'm more motivated than ever," Ryder said.
Martin Guptill also returns after missing the tour of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through injury, while pace bowler Tim Southee has been included despite the fact he will miss the first two games as he needs treatment on a toe injury.
New Zealand: B McCullum (capt), Anderson, Guptill, McClenaghan, N McCullum, Mills, Milne, Munro, Neesham, Ronchi, Ryder, Taylor, Williamson.
