New Zealand's Jesse Ryder is hopeful of a return to international cricket for the Black Caps' home series against England.

Ryder has not featured since being dropped for a one-day international against South Africa last March after breaking team protocol.

But with a first-class average of 69.75 for domestic side Willington this season, a recall could be on the cards.

Brendon McCullum's side suffered innings defeats in their two-Test series against South Africa, and Ryder will meet national coach Mike Hesson later this month to discuss the possibility of his return ahead of the three Twenty20, ODI and Test matches with England.

Speaking to a New Zealand radio show, Ryder said: "There is a meeting on the 29th coming up when the coach is back (from South Africa) so we'll see how that goes.

"I'm definitely not ruled out for a return for England."
