ODI series: Warner and Sharma involved in angry exchange of words in Melbourne

Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Australia's David Warner were involved in an angry exchange of words during the one-day international between the sides at the MCG.

During the 23rd over of India's innings, Rohit played a James Faulkner delivery to mid-off, where Warner threw it towards the striker's end.

The ball went through Rohit's legs and wicket-keeper Brad Haddin failed to gather it in as India scored a quick single.

It wasn't clear if the ball hit Sharma - if it did he broke the unwritten rule that a batsman shouldn't claim overthrows - but at the end of the over Warner confronted him, appearing to tell him to "speak English" and the umpires took several minutes to separate the two players.

The four-match Test series, which preceded this series, was also marred by incidents of altercation between the Indian and Australian players, including Virat Kohli, Warner and Mitchell Johnson, and led to calls from the International Cricket Council to clamp down on sledging during next month's World Cup.
