Sky Sports commentator David Lloyd has tipped Yorkshire's Joe Root as a future England captain.
Root and James Anderson rewrote the record books with a Test record last-wicket stand of 198 against India on Saturday.
The partnership took England to a highly unlikely 39-run first-innings lead on day four of the opening Test against India at Trent Bridge
When Anderson was eventually out for 81 from 130 balls shortly after lunch England, the partnership had shattered the previous record of 163 set by Australia's Ashton Agar and Phil Hughes in the 2013 Ashes series in England, also at Trent Bridge. Root was left unbeaten on 154 from 295 balls.
Lloyd says 23-year-old Root showed great leadership qualities on his way to his fourth century for his country during the 10th-wicket partnership, which came together with England in trouble at 298-9 in response to India's 457 all out.
"He got into the team as an opener for Nick Compton, but he seems to have quickly have settled into that middle order," 'Bumble' told the Sky Cricket podcast. "The clues have always been that when he goes back to Yorkshire, he doesn't always open and so he looks well at home there.
"Four centuries now and he looks the real deal. He's good in the field as well - he's not one of these lads that just wanders around in the field, he's encouraging the bowlers all the time.
"I would say, and I know he's young - captain material Root, definitely."
