India opener Shikhar Dhawan will have to wait to play a Test on his home ground in Delhi after being ruled out of the series finale against Australia.
The left-hander hurt a finger attempting to field a cut shot from Phil Hughes during Australia's second innings in the third Test.
The injury stopped Dhawan, who was on debut in Mohali, from batting at the top of the order in the home side's successful run chase, denying him the chance to add to the 187 from 174 balls he hit in the first innings.
Suresh Raina has been called up by India's selectors as cover after replacement opener Gautam Gambhir was diagnosed with jaundice.
"Injured Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of Delhi Test," the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on their Twitter page.
The absence of Dhawan, who had been selected in place of the out-of-form Virender Sehwag in the third Test, means India will be forced into another change in their opening pair.
Murali Vijay is set to now be partnered by Ajinkya Rahane as the hosts bid to complete a 4-0 series sweep at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, live on Sky Sports, from Friday.
