Danish Kaneria's appeal against his lifetime ban looks likely to be held in the New Year after the England and Wales Cricket (ECB) Board Disciplinary Panel adjourned proceedings.
The Pakistan leg-spinner was handed a ban in June for his role in a spot-fixing plot.
Kaneria was found guilty of "cajoling and pressurising" former Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield into accepting cash in exchange for attempting to concede a set number of runs in an over during a Pro 40 match in 2009.
Monday's adjournment was confirmed following legal submissions from both sides in London, with a new date for the hearing to be agreed.
Kaneria denies all involvement in the plot and following the original hearing in June he indicated he would appeal the ban.
The Pakistan Cricket Board subsequently confirmed he would be suspended from playing in his home country until the outcome of the appeal was known.
Witnesses are yet to be called in the appeal hearing.
