The Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed that their proposed tour of Zimbabwe in December has been postponed.
The PCB have accepted an invitation from fierce rivals India to play three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches, and Pakistan feel they will not have time to prepare for Zimbabwe.
A PCB official said: "Since it is too close to the series against India we have informed the Zimbabwe authorities the tour should be held sometime next year.
The agreement between India and Pakistan is the first since relations were severed following the terrorist attacks that killed 166 in Mumbai in 2008, which the Indian government blamed on Pakistan-based militants.
The teams have not met in a full series since Pakistan toured India five years ago, although they did play each other in last year's World Cup semi-final in Mohali.
PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf also claimed that international cricket may return to Pakistan next year after giving security assurances to Bangladesh and Zimabwe.
"We are in negotiations with Bangladesh and Zimbabwe cricket boards," Ashraf said. "I was in Colombo recently and I talked to them about sending their team.
"We are talking to two other boards as well, but I am not going to reveal the names. We have given them security plans and hope good results will come.
"We will give you good news regarding the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan very soon, maybe in 2013. I am sure the day is not far when we have big time cricket in Karachi, Lahore and other cities."
