ICC launch probe after banned bowler 'played in Surrey league'
Shamed Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir faces an ICC investigation after apparently being caught flouting his worldwide suspension.
Amir was found guilty by the ICC in February of deliberately bowling no balls in the fourth Test against England last August and banned for five years.
But the Daily Star reported on Wednesday that Amir had been caught turning out for Addington 1743 in a Surrey Cricket League Division One game and the ICC have confirmed they will launch an investigation into the claims.
The teenager, unsurprisingly, stole the show scoring 60 runs and taking four wickets in a win over St Luke's at the LSE ground in New Malden.
ICC spokesman Colin Gibson said: "We are investigating and awaiting the details.
"If true, it is clearly a breach of the sanction imposed in February.
"The ban is absolutely worldwide covering all levels and any activities connected with cricket. What might happen next is a hypothetical question at this stage."
The Addington website confirmed that a player called Mohammad Amir appeared for the first team against St Luke's CC on Saturday.
Statistics show he took 4-9 in seven overs and hit 60 runs with the bat as Addington won the match by 81 runs.
