ICC president Mustafa Kamal has resigned after World Cup snub

International Cricket Council (ICC) president Mustafa Kamal has resigned from his role.

Bangladeshi Kamal said he has decided to leave the post after being denied the right to award the World Cup trophy to winners Australia following Sunday's final in Melbourne.

He said: "My rights were dishonoured. After I go back home, I will let the whole world know what's happening in the ICC. I will let the whole world know about those guys who are doing these mischievous things."

ICC chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan handed the trophy to victorious tournament co-hosts Australia, prompting Kamal to launch a scathing attack on the Indian and the ICC hierarchy whom he termed "ugly people".

"I'm again requesting that these type of people should be away from cricket, otherwise cricket will be spoilt, cricket will not move forward," said Kamal.

"My earnest request to the ICC is to revisit those things. I'm sure people will find out why I have resigned and they will unearth the truth. Who are these people, what are they doing and how are they running the ICC?"

However, the ICC said it was not aware of Kamal's resignation.

Kamal had other differences with the ICC during the World Cup, notably the no-ball called on Rohit Sharma in the quarter-final between India and Bangladesh.

The ICC criticised Kamal for his outburst after India opener Sharma was caught in the deep and umpire Aleem Dar deemed it was an above waist-height no-ball even if replays showed otherwise.

After India won the match, Kamal demanded the governing body looked into the dismissal while the ICC termed his outburst as "very unfortunate".
