Ashes: Nathan Lyon refuses to criticise Graeme Swann's Brisbane display

Nathan Lyon: Took four wickets in the first Test in Brisbane

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has refused to criticise the performance of England's Graeme Swann in the first Ashes Test.

Spinner Swann took just two wickets and conceded over 200 runs as the tourists were comprehensively beaten by 381 runs in Brisbane.

In contrast, Lyon offered a greater challenge to the England batsman, contributing to his side's victory with two important wickets in both innings, claiming the scalp of Ian Bell in the first innings, captain Alastair Cook in the second and Matt Prior in both.

But Lyon said: "Graeme Swann is a very talented bowler and he's someone who I've watched.

"I was lucky enough to get a little bit more bounce you could probably say, so yeah, I'm not saying anything else."

Challenge

The second Test gets under way on December 5 in Adelaide, where Lyon is expecting completely different conditions to those at the Gabba.

"It's going to be a new challenge, but as a bowling group we thrive off challenges," added the 26-year-old.

"It probably won't be as bouncy as what the Gabba was but hopefully the reverse swing will come back into it and then Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, James Faulkner and Peter Siddle will hopefully be able to get that reverse swing happening.

"Fingers crossed there is a little bit of speed in there for me.

"We've got pretty attacking batsmen with the likes of David Warner, Michael Clarke who are able to get going there and have a really good partnership."

The second Test in Adelaide will be shown live on Sky Sports 2 HD from December 5.
