Mominul Haque has the unenviable task of trying to replace Shakib Al Hasan in the Bangladesh Test squad after being picked for the Sri Lanka series.
Bangladesh play two Tests, three one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international during their month-long tour which starts with a Test in Galle on 8 March.
Shakib misses the tour with a shin injury that he is going to Australia to have surgery on, and Bangladesh have opted to replace him with another left-handed bat - Haque can also bowl but his spin is more occasional than the classy Shakib's.
"We have taken into consideration Mominul's performance over the last one year. He has been impressive," chief selector Akram Khan said.
"It is always difficult to replace Shakib because you need two players to fill up his dual roles as a spinner and a batsman."
Left-arm spinner Enamul Haque, batsman Jahurul Islam and seamer Robiul Islam have also been recalled for the Test segment of the tour.
Test squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mohammad Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Anamul Haque, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque, Jahurul Islam, Mominul Hoque, Shahadat Hossain, Robiul Islam.
