Stuart Meaker: Injury setback comes at a bad time ahead of ODI squad announcement
Stuart Meaker has been forced to return from England Lions' tour of Sri Lanka with a back injury.
The Surrey paceman will fly home immediately and the setback appears to end his hopes of earning a spot in England's one-day squad for the four ODIs and three Twenty20 clashes against Pakistan in the UAE.
Meaker, who played in England's final two ODIs in India last October, would have been in contention for a place in the squad, which is named next week, particularly given the ongoing uncertainty over key all-rounder Tim Bresnan's fitness.
The Lions have called up Kent's Matthew Coles as a replacement for the last two games in their series with Sri Lanka A, which they lead 2-1, and their tour match against Flower's side in Abu Dhabi next Friday.
