Shaun Marsh: Knows the pressure is on
Out-of-form Shaun Marsh has admitted his Test career could already be running out of time.
The 28-year-old was sidelined with a back injury before being rushed back into the Australia side for the start of series against India despite completing just one Twenty20 innings.
And while Australia have dominated the series - winning all three of the matches - Marsh has failed to feature, scoring only 14 runs at an average of 3.50 batting at number three.
However, the Australian selectors have retained Marsh in the 12-man squad for the final Test match in Adelaide and the Western Australian believes it could be his last opportunity to repay the faith shown to him.
"At the end of the day my job is to score runs and I haven't been doing that in the first three Test matches," he said.
Pressure
"There's always pressure, that's part and parcel of playing international cricket, I've just got to try and turn it around.
"You don't get too many chances to play Test cricket so I know my chances are running out."
Shaun Marsh Quotes of the week
"You don't get too many chances to play Test cricket so I know my chances are running out."
In a final attempt to regain form ahead of the final Test - which gets underway on Tuesday - Marsh has been released to play for Perth Scorchers in their Twenty20 fixture on Wednesday.
But the son of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh admitted it is time at the crease he needs if he is going to reach the heights he displayed on Test debut when he scored 141 against Sri Lanka.
Confidence
"I'm just looking forward to getting out there and spending a bit of time in the middle," he added.
"I've had some poor games lately in the Test arena, which has been disappointing, so to get out there and hopefully score a few runs to get the confidence back would be nice."
Marsh dismissed any suggestion that the reason for his poor run of form was due to his early return from injury and believes Adelaide is the perfect place to turn his luck around.
"The back's fine now, the body's feeling great and it's time to score some runs," he said.
