Charlotte Edwards has praised her England team-mates after they claimed a 61-run victory in their Ashes opener against Australia.
The first meeting between the sides was a Test match at the WACA with England showing grit and determination to grind out the win.
Edwards (56) top-scored for England in their second innings while their bowlers stood out on the final two days to skittle out Australia.
Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross took three wickets each while Anya Shrubsole and Jenny Gunn took two wickets apiece.
England had to contend with soaring temperatures in Perth and Edwards could not have been more proud of her team-mates after success.
"It's definitely been a rollercoaster the last four days," said Edwards. "I think two great teams who have put on fantastic Test match there.
"I think it was toing and froing in the morning session there. I'm just really proud of this bunch of girls.
"To keep fighting like they did is fantastic. This is not the Ashes won. This is just a Test match and we've got two more games to win now.
"We've had a lot of tough times together and a lot of good times. I guess that's unified us. We realise what we can achieve.
"I think we realise from playing a lot of Test cricket you realise you're never out of it.
"These (team-mates) were brilliant. The bowlers kept running in. In that heat on day two was just phenomenal.
"It's brilliant, a brilliant achievement."
