Australia fast bowler Jackson Bird is flying home for further assessment on a back injury.
Bird played in the fourth Ashes Test at the Emirates Durham ICG but was replaced by Mitchell Starc for the finale at the Kia Oval.
It emerged on Thursday that Bird had been suffering pain in his lower back over the last week.
Team physio Alex Kountouris said: "Jackson has had low back pain over the past week of The Ashes tour and will return to Australia today to begin the process of investigating the source of the pain and rehabilitation."
Bird was not due to be part of the Australia one-day or Twenty20 squads for the series that follow the Tests over the next month.
Australia have also lost seamer James Pattinson to a stress fracture while Pat Cummins, who wasn't fit for the English part of the Ashes double-header, will also miss the home matches with a back problem.
