Shane Watson has suffered another injury setback after being ruled out of Australia's trip to the United Arab Emirates to take on Pakistan.
The all-rounder has a calf injury and will miss the month-long trip to the Middle East.
Watson was also absent from the recent ODI tri-series involving Zimbabwe and South Africa after stepping on a ball during training and hurting an ankle.
Tasmania bowler Ben Hilfenhaus will replace Watson in the Test squad, while Kane Richardson will take over for the limited-overs games.
Australia have already lost skipper Michael Clarke due to a hamstring injury for the early games of the tour but he may recover in time for the Test series.
A Twenty20 match on October 5, will be followed by three ODIs before the first Test begins on October 22.
