England Twenty20 opening batsman Alex Hales has joined Big Bash League leaders Melbourne Renegades as a replacement for the injured Marlon Samuels.
West Indies international Samuels will miss the remainder of the tournament after he was hit in the eye by a Lasith Malinga bouncer during the Renegades' victory against the Melbourne Stars on Sunday.
The Renegades are four points clear at the top of the 2012/13 Big Bash league with seven games played having won all but one of their outings.
Nottinghamshire batsman Hales has been a regular member of the England T20 international squad over the past 18 months and averages 34.83 at a strike rate of 127.43 in 14 internationals.
The 23-year-old will join the Renegades squad in Sydney for their final group match against the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday.
