World Cup: West Indies include Sunil Narine in provisional squad

The West Indies have included off-spinner Sunil Narine in their provisional World Cup squad for Australia and New Zealand next year.

Narine was pulled from the ill-fated tour of India in October after being reported for a suspect bowling action during the Champions League Twenty20 series.

West Indies named six uncapped players in left-arm seamer Kenroy Peters, leg-spinner Imran Khan, off-spinner Ashley Nurse, teenage fast bowler Marquino Mindley, and left-handed batsmen Evin Lewis and Jonathan Carter.

Key batsmen Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo were included despite withdrawing from the Test squad to take on South Africa later this month.

However, there was no place for experienced right-arm fast bowler Ravi Rampaul who has played 90 one-day internationals and taken 115 wickets.

Two-time champions West Indies will play in Pool B at the World Cup, which starts in February, where they face defending champions India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe.

The squad must be cut to 15 players by the January 7 deadline.
