England Lions were held to a draw by Sri Lanka A Emerging Players in the opening game of their tour at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Middlesex opener Sam Robson's second-innings 120 allowed the Lions to set a target of 409 midway through the final day of the three-day fixture.
Although Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali (3-51) picked up three wickets, Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 63 led Sri Lanka A Emerging Players to safety, finishing on 192-5.
The same teams meet again at the Colombo Colts Cricket Ground from February 6-8 before the Lions take on Sri Lanka A in a three-match series.
The Lions are being captained by Warwickshire's Chris Woakes, one of six players in the squad who have already played Test cricket, including Jonny Bairstow who was on the recent Ashes tour.
