England will name their 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy on Friday morning.
The 30-man provisional squad named last month will be cut to 15 and whilst choosing the batsmen appears to be straightforward, the bowling line-up may have caused the selectors more problems.
In the absence of the injured Kevin Pietersen and Craig Kieswetter, Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are expected to be selected as the batting firepower along with Alastair Cook, Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott and Eoin Morgan.
The bowling poses more questions. James Anderson, Steven Finn and Stuart Broad are shoe-ins, but Chris Woakes is being pushed by fit-again Tim Bresnan for a place, though both could conceivably make the squad.
Jade Dernbach is another pace option though James Harris' chances appear to have been scuppered by injury.
Graeme Swann has returned to action with Nottinghamshire and will only be omitted if the selectors want him to concentrate on red-ball cricket ahead of the Ashes. James Tredwell, excellent in New Zealand, is likely to be the second spinner.
All-rounders will occupy the remaining two or three spots. Coach Ashley Giles is being tipped in some quarters to recall Ravi Bopara, and in others Warwickshire's Rikki Clarke whilst Sussex's Luke Wright and Nottinghamshire's Samit Patel are other options.
The squad announcement is expected at 10.30am.
