India paceman Vinay Kumar has been ruled out of the two-match Twenty20 international series against England.

Kumar was added to the home squad after Lakshmipathy Balaji was forced to withdraw due to a stress fracture in his toe.

But a strained right calf muscle has now sidelined Kumar for around two weeks, which could also rule him out of the Twenty20 and one-day international series against Pakistan over Christmas and the New Year.

Kumar's place in the squad has been taken by fellow seamer Abhimanyu Mithun, who played the last of his five one-day internationals against the West Indies a year ago.

The home side are also without middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary, who will not be risked after suffering a strained side muscle.

Pune stages the first match on Thursday, while Mumbai is the venue for the second on Saturday.
