Jonny Bairstow has been passed fit for England's second tour match, which begins on Saturday.
The Yorkshire batsman has been struggling with a thigh strain, but the problem will not prevent him taking on Mumbai A in a three-day warm-up.
Fast bowler Steve Finn is definitely missing with a similar injury sustained in the tour opener so Graham Onions is an almost certain starter.
Stuart Broad should also return to the side meaning a much-needed rest for Tim Bresnan after the injury to Finn enforced an increased workload on the all-rounder.
Broad could captain the side if Alastair Cook is given a breather after his century, while Nick Compton will get another chance to impress following his third-ball duck on England debut.
Joe Root will likely join him at the top of the order and Kevin Pietersen is set to continue his reintegration into the England set-up.
England seamer James Anderson says Finn's injury provides an opportunity for others to make their case for Test selection.
"It's not ideal because you want to choose from your strongest squad," Anderson said.
"But we're lucky we have a number of bowlers who can come in and do a great job for us.
"Graham Onions, I'm sure, will get a chance in the next couple of games to show what he can do.
"It's exciting for those guys. Obviously it's unfortunate for Steven - we'd like him to be fit for selection - but injuries do happen."
