Record-breaking Anderson to be discussed in depth

The Cricket Writers on TV panel will have plenty to talk about on Sunday morning.

Paul Allott, as always, will chair 90 minutes of intense leather-on-willow debate in Sky Studios ahead of day three of England and New Zealand’s second Test at Headingley.

Paul and the gang will assess the state of play in Yorkshire and which side is on top following the opening skirmishes, but record breaking will also be on the agenda.

The boys - Mike Walters (Mirror), Tom Collomosse (London Evening Standard) and Mark Baldwin (Times) – will discuss James Anderson becoming the first Englishman to collect 400 Test-match wickets and, if it happens at Headingley, Alastair Cook becoming England’s top Test run scorer.

We look back at James Anderson record-breaking career for England after taking 400 Test wickets.

New Zealand’s pulsating batting on day one in Leeds should also garner a mention, while thoughts may also turn back to a cracking first Test at Lord’s that ended in front of a packed-out crowd on Bank Holiday Monday.

Ben Stokes dazzled with the bat in London – plundering the quickest Test ton ever seen at the Home of Cricket – before leading England’s charge with the ball as Alastair Cook’s men secured a thrilling 124-run victory.

Is Stokes the new Botham or Flintoff? How good can he be? Will Australia be fearful of facing him? Our panel should discuss England’s new sensation, as well as the man who will soon be coaching him, Trevor Bayliss.
