Monty Panesar has agreed to play domestic cricket for the Highveld Lions in South Africa this winter.
Panesar, 27, will feature for the Johannesburg-based side if - as is expected - he fails to make England's squad to tour South Africa.
The Northamptonshire left-arm spinner recently missed out when England announced their centrally-contracted players for the coming year.
Panesar, who has made 39 Test appearances, has not featured for his country since the opening match of the Ashes series last July.
The move is yet to be confirmed by the Lions - who have also been linked with Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga - but a source told the Press Association a deal has been agreed.
