White Wayne: On the way to Old Trafford
Lancashire have signed all-rounder Wayne White from Leicestershire.
White, 27, will join Simon Katich and Kabir Ali as new signings in the Lancashire squad this summer.
White began his career at Derbyshire before moving to Grace Road in 2008 where he was awarded a county cap at the end of last season.
A powerful lower middle order batsman and useful seam bowler, he has scored over 2,000 runs in his career and taken over 150 wickets.
Lancashire Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said: "Wayne will bring additional quality in our seam bowling department and will also contribute with the bat in the middle order.
"At 27 years old he is still an emerging cricketer which fits well with our strategy going forward and is adept in all formats of the game.
"He has had an impressive record with Leicestershire over the past couple of seasons which suggests there are better things to come."
Head Coach Peter Moores added: "It is great news that Wayne has joined us at a very exciting time for the club both on and off the field. Wayne is a rapidly emerging cricketer whose passion to improve and win trophies will match that of the rest of the squad.
"He will give us the depth we need to compete in all three competitions and create healthy competition within the squad for a position in the First Team.
Speaking from Australia, where he is spending the winter, White said: "I am delighted to be joining Lancashire and I am excited at the prospect of challenging for trophies in all three formats.
"Playing at Old Trafford is something I am really looking forward to. The club has put a lot of work into redeveloping the ground and securing the Ashes Test match for this year. Hopefully, as a playing group we can make it a memorable one on the field for Lancashire too."
